Thumbies® are meticulously fashioned using the lost wax casting process in either solid 14 karat gold or sterling silver to create a treasured family heirloom.

The cire perdu or lost wax casting, began thousands of years ago in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. The artists and sculptors began using this technique to achieve and produce intricately detailed artwork in copper, bronze and gold.

One-of-a-kind Thumbies® are created by transferring a fingerprint onto jewelers wax. Once transferred, artisans encase the wax in a 2-layer plaster mold. As the hot metal is poured into the mold, the "lost" wax melts and is replaced with an exact precious metal cast piece.

The casted piece is then put through an extensive polishing process to give it a lustrous finish. The final step is engraving (name and dates) on the backside (2 lines, 10 spaces per line), thereby providing a personalized keepsake.

Thumbies® Fingerprint Impression Keepsakes

Fingerprint Impression Keepsakes are available in sterling silver, 14k white gold, and 14k yellow gold. They are slightly domed on the print side and flat with a burnished finish for engraving on the back side. At no additional charge, engraving is offered in either BLOCK or Script font styles. Standard charms include up to 2 lines with 10 characters and spaces on each line. Grand Charms include up to 3 lines with 12 characters and spaces per line. Keepsake charms are usually available in 4-6 weeks from the date prints are submitted. Key Fobs are the only exception to this time frame. Key Fobs usually take 8-10 weeks because after they are cast and engraved, they must be sent out to be embossed in Lucite®.

The standard charm comes with two lines of engraving with up to 10 characters and spaces per line. An optional third line of engraving may be purchased. Click HERE for additional engraving options.

The Grand Charm comes with three lines of engraving with up to 12 characters and spaces per line. Click HERE for additional engraving options.

The Standard Charm is available as a hanging pin charm in all four face designs (full fingerprint, rimmed fingerprint, handprint, and footprint). This charm is the perfect keepsake for women with metal allergies or those who find it difficult to use a clasp on a necklace. The Hanging Charm Pin measures 1" W x 1½" L and comes with the same engraving used on the Standard Charm. An additional line of engraving may be purchased. The Hanging Pin Charm is also available in the Grand size.

Two types of earrings are available: 1) lever-back ear wire and 2) post and nut. A lever-back ear wire hangs freely below the lobe, while a post and nut earring fits snugly against the ear lobe. Each earring comes with two lines of engraving with up to 10 characters and spaces per line. An optional third line is available on lever-back style earrings, but not on the post and nut style.

Many women start an heirloom charm bracelet with a keepsake charm of a child or grandchild, adding to the bracelet over time the prints of others who are special to them, even the prints of family pets!

Since most people carry keys, a keepsake connected to a daily routine is wonderfully comforting. A Standard or Grand Charm with any face design is embedded in a protective coating of crystal clear Lucite®. The Key Fob with charm measures 1½" W x 3" L. The Key Fob comes with the engraving used on either the Standard or Grand charm within the Key Fob. The time required to create a Key Fob is longer than for other keepsakes and is approximately 8-10 weeks.

Keepsake Charms can be mounted on many different items that you already own and cherish. We offer a lighter, a knife, and a money clip with the keepsake already mounted. Your mounted charm comes with two lines of engraving with up to 10 characters and spaces on each line. An optional third line may be purchased. Engraving is placed on the object itself. Custom mounting on other objects with flat surfaces is available on request.

Any charm can be made into a pendant with the purchase of a chain. 18" box chains are available in sterling silver and 18" anchor chains are used for both 14k yellow and white gold. 21", 24", and 30" chains are also available in all three metals.

Adding a stone or two couldn't be easier. Standard birthstones are synthetic. Diamonds, pearls and opals are genuine stones. Genuine birthstones are available for an additional fee. We can also add one of your own stones to your charm.
