Scott Madden, 47, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 25th, 2011, at his home in Houston, Texas. He was born on December 2nd, 1963 in North Kingstown, Rhode Island at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station, where his father was stationed as a naval aviator. He grew up in Longmont, Colorado after his parents moved there in 1972 and lived there until the Fall of 1991.
In 1979 at the age of sixteen years old, he began working at Furr’s Cafeteria and stayed there for 10 years, eventually working 5 of those years as Head Supervisor, Kitchen Supervisor and Head Baker and acquired a true love of cooking which remained a passion to him even after he left Furr’s. Because of his love for people and sympathetic heart, he chose to pursue a career which would help people who had lost a loved one. He worked at Olinger Mortuary in Denver, Colorado from 1989 to 1991. In 1991, he left Colorado and headed to Houston to attend Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service. His goal was to eventually own and operate his own mortuary. In 1992 he became co-owner of Aldine Funeral Chapel and was able to touch many lives through his kindness and warmth to those with whom tragedy had struck. His genuine warmth and caring heart helped innumerable families cope with very difficult situations. His kindness also carried over to animals, particularly cats. Because of him, many homeless cats that appeared on his doorway, found love and forever homes.
He is survived by his parents, Don R. Madden and Bertie Lou Madden; sister, Lorenda DiGiacomo; 2 nieces, Nicholette and Julianna DiGiacomo; his furry, four-legged children: Precious, Munchkin, Stowie and Simba; as well as many other relatives and friends.
